Jeanette Ballesteros, MS, LPC-S

CLINICAL DIRECTOR | OWNER

Jeanette Ballesteros, a compassionate licensed professional counselor and approved supervisor, is deeply committed to transforming lives through her expertise in mental health treatment. As the proud owner and founder of South Texas Counseling Agency, PLLC, she has established a renowned practice in McAllen, specializing in trauma treatment, couples counseling, and guiding individuals through grief and loss.

Jeanette’s educational journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Texas Pan American, followed by a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at the same institution in Edinburg, TX. Motivated by her own life experiences, she discovered the power of resolving conflicts through non-adversarial methods, leading to profound healing and meaningful resolutions. Licensed as a professional counselor in 2013 and earning supervisor status in 2016, Jeanette possesses over 15 years of education and training in an integrative clinical approach.

Specializing in EMDR therapy, Jeanette offers highly personalized counseling deeply rooted in scientific research and relational dynamics. She collaborates closely with her clients, co-determining goals and crafting a customized path toward healing. Jeanette’s expertise lies in understanding trauma and its pervasive impact on various aspects of our lives. Her practice thrives in helping individuals and relationships where trauma has left its mark. Notably, Jeanette welcomes clients at different stages of their therapeutic journey, embracing all with her gentle and compassionate approach.

Patricia M. Skalitsky, M. Ed., LPC

With a graduate degree from the University of Texas Pan American and 16 years of mental health experience, I specialize in aiding diverse clients, focusing on issues such as domestic abuse and family discord. My expertise includes diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and crisis intervention, with a primary focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I excel in individual therapy for youths, at-risk adolescents, adults, and families, emphasizing a supportive environment.

Additionally, I have a proven track record in supervisory roles and crisis prevention. Beyond clinical work, I’ve mentored staff, engaged in public speaking, and contributed significantly to community health programs, emphasizing my dedication to holistic well-being.

Jackie Pulido, MS, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

I am a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor with over eight years experience in employee assistance programs, community clinics, inpatient facilities, k-12 schools, and private practice. In these positions I have helped diverse clients to set and achieve therapeutic goals by using cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, solution-focused therapy, and other evidence-based modalities. I hold a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from what was previously the University of Texas Pan American and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Child & Family Studies from Baylor University. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, relationship issues, behavioral issues, and substance abuse issues. Apart from holding my LPC, I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I provide my clients a safe space where they can be open and honest, without fear of judgment. I enjoy teaching clients to take control of their thoughts and learn new strategies to help achieve long-term success.

Miguel Garza, MS, LPC

My name is Miguel Garza and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with South Texas Counseling Agency. I graduated from UTRGV in 2011 with my Masters of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling. I have 10 years of experience within the mental health field. Currently I have about five years of clinical experience working with children, teenagers and adults, helping them with their emotional needs. Through the years I have learned many skills through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy to address an array of mental health needs like behavioral issues, depression, anxiety, grief, crisis intervention, trauma and couples counseling.

Ana holds a master’s degree in counseling gand is dedicated to providing a safe and nonjudgmental space for her clients to explore their thoughts and emotions. Nellie Cano, MS, LMSW

Associate Therapist

Nellie Cano is a bilingual Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) under LCSW-Supervision that has over 15 years of experience in both the mental health and social work field. Ms. Cano’s educational background includes a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from the University of Texas Pan American. Ms. Cano is focused on providing a safe space for clients while empowering them through the therapeutic process. She will provide a treatment approach that addresses internal and external contributors to your mental health needs. Ms. Cano utilizes a person-centered approach and will use evidence-based modalities tailored to the client’s unique treatment. She will often use aspects of Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy during treatment. Whether you’re seeking support for anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, family conflict, relationship conflict or grief, she is here to guide you with empathy and understanding.

Melissa Rodriguez, M. Ed.

My name is Melissa Rodriguez and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) from UTRGV in Edinburg, Texas. I have a Master’s degree in Education with a major in Counseling & Guidance, and have worked as a Middle School Migrant & Academic Counselor for 15 years, 2 years as a Curriculum Assistant, 5 years as an Elementary School Counselor and 5 years as an Elementary School Teacher. Throughout my years of experience I have worked in many capacities, and have worked with a diversity of different populations. My personal goal is to help individuals reach their desired goals and full potential by implementing a client-centered approach. Cynthia Meza, M.Ed., LPC

Cynthia Meza is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who is passionate about helping individuals experiencing mental health issues. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and obtained her Master’s in Education Counseling with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Cynthia chose a career in professional counseling because she desires to help others overcome psychological and behavioral issues to lead happier, healthier, and more productive lives. Cynthia’s background in Education as a former bilingual teacher has given her a greater awareness of the importance of being empathetic and offering a safe environment for her clients.

She uses various evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Cynthia’s focus is Childhood Trauma, Depression and Anxiety, Anger Rehabilitation, and Family Conflict. She provides direct therapy to clients in individual settings, utilizing various therapeutic techniques and culturally appropriate strategies to meet their needs.
